About

Semi-Parmed Life exists at the intersection of being an Italian-American from the state of New Jersey and yet not fulfilling any of the stereotypes one might expect. I don’t have one of those reflective Italian flags on my car, I don’t wear gold chains, I was raised Roman Catholic but I don’t go to church, and I don’t have a god damned cornicello hanging from my rear view mirror.

That being said, I do have an affinity for many of the cultural aspects involved with being a “Jersey Italian”. I love me some gabagool (capicola to you uncultured midigons) and I obsess over The Sopranos. I know the best spot to get an Italian Hot Dog, which by the way, is NOT a hot dog with marinara and mozzarella. Look, I’m legit, ok?

I also have a strange attraction to chicken parm sandwiches from places you wouldn’t expect to see them. Diners, fast food joints, chain restaurants, concession stands…you name it, if it’s out of place I feel compelled to try it.

And that is where the name of this site comes from. These sandwiches, much like the life I lead, are semi-parmed at best. I like writing and eventually want to turn this project into an occasional podcast. I guess you might say that I wanted something else to get me through this…Semi-Parmed kind of life. You’d be right.
