The Precipice of an Enormous Crossroads

Why am I doing this?

I already had something good going on over at A Winner Is Me. I could write about whatever the hell I wanted. It was good. I wrote some good stuff over there, or so I’ve been told, and I plan to continue with that. I wrote about me, I worked through a lot of stuff, I ranted and raved and it was and still is good and cathartic and a medium through which I will still publish a good deal of my work.

But something inside me yearned for more. As my favorite purveyor of the malapropism, Carmine “Little Carmine” Lupertazzi Jr. would say, I found myself “at the precipice of an enormous crossroads”. I wanted to work on something with specificity. Something that was unequivocally me and yet not just for me. I wanted to start talking about New Jersey, The Sopranos, being an Italian but not really a stereotypical one and all that comes with that. I wanted to do things damn it. I COULD do THINGS! I’m smart! I could do things! (for starters, I could calm down my inner-Fredo)

I wanted something else…to get me through this…Semi-Parmed Kind of Life.

If you’ve read my first piece on this site then you already know of my affinity towards chicken parm sandwiches but you want to know what else? I eschew limoncello in favor of its vastly superior and yet lesser known second cousin, orangecello. I live in the great Garden State where good pizza is aplenty and I still order from Domino’s whenever I feel like it because sometimes I just want a shitty pizza. I have an encyclopedic knowledge of The Sopranos and I sip a Negroni like it’s going out of style, which it never will!

Are you following me or does all of this sound like the framus is intersecting with the ramistan approximately at the paternoster?

Yeah, like anyone else, I’ve found myself at the precipice of an enormous crossroads, alright. Methinks I’ll be taking the crossroads less traveled for a change. The one that winds and weaves all the way through this semi-parmed life that I’m living.

I hope you enjoy the ride.
